Alpha Sigma Tau was founded in Ypsilanti, Michigan on November 4, 1899 at Michigan State Normal College, now known as Eastern Michigan University. The sorority was founded by the 8 women pictured above, Mable Chase, Ruth Dutcher, Harriett Marx, May Gephart, Eva O'Keefe, Adriance Rice, Helen Rice, Mayene Tracy. Since then many chapters affiliated, the Beta Chapter being the second one in 1905 here at Central Michigan University.
