Pine Mountain Settlement School
Pine Mountain Settlement School has been AST's national
philanthropy since 1945. Pine Mountain teaches environmental
education as well as basic education skills in Harlan County, KY.
Our chapter raises money each year as well as trying to take a trip down.
Together, chapters of AST have donated enough to
renovate nearly every building on Pine Mountain's campus as
well as to provide for the purchase of a van, a tractor,
furnaces, library materials, and much more.

Along with Pine Mountain, we also raise money and work closely with our national service project, Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity was established in 1976 and AST decided to take it on as our national service project at
National Convention in 2004.
Not only do we work with these two great organizations but each sister is required to do minimum of five
hours of philanthropy each semester. We have a philanthropy chair who organize's opportunities for sisters
to volunteer together around the local area along with continuing to work with our other philanthropies.
